THIEVES – A GREEN FORMULA
Thieves Cleaner‘s new formula boasts the most effective , 100 percent plant- and mineral-based ingredients available, including:
- Vegetable-based surfactants like alkyl polyglucoside that are compliant with Green Seal and EPA Design for Environment (DfE) standards.
- Biodegradable cutting agents like sodium methyl 2-sulfolurate and disodium 2-sulfolaurate from renewable sources.
- Active ingredients like tetrasodium glutamate diacetate that are readily biodegradable and derived from food-approved amino acids.
- The all-natural cleansing and disinfecting power of therapeutic-grade Thieves and lemon essential oils.
All of the ingredients that make up this new formulation are ecologically friendly, come from sustainable sources, have biodegradable properties, and none of them are petroleum-based. Not only that, every once of these ingredients received a “green” rating from the Enviromental Working Group website—www.ewg.org—meaning that they are “good for me, good for the planet, and good for the community.”
WHAT IS “PLANT-BASED”?
Tracy Gibbs, PhD Pharmacognosy—the study of medicines derived from natural sources—consulted with Young Living on the development of the new Thieves cleaner. The term “plant-based” can cause some confusion, so we talked with Tracy about what it means to have a 100% plant- and mineral-based formula:
“Baically, if you trace and chemical back to its origin, it all comes from nature at some point; the key is in the extraction process,” Tracy says. “Plant-based ingredients are those extracted from the source without the use of synthetic chemicals—typically by using water or ethonal. When you use plant-based, biodegradable products you have zero impact on the environment. It’s important to use a natural household cleaner because it’s what you do every day that matters. That’s what determines your health, and where being environmentally friendly counts the most.”
Listen to what others are saying about Thieves Household Cleaner:
1. Thieves – Dishwasher Detergent
“I never use dish detergent in my dishwasher. I simply add white vinegar and about a capful of Thieves Household Cleaner. It saves a lot of money by not using a dishwasher detergent and gets the dishes quite clean and germ free.”
I have been trying all the dishwashing detergents, (avoiding the completely
toxic Cascade-like ones), to find something that actually cleans, and, leaves
glasses clear. When I saw this tip today, I knew I’d found my answer. I’m
putting the large bottle of Thieves Household Cleaner on my Essential Rewards
order today! I tried Thieves alone, and it was good, but can see now that it
was missing the “boost” from white vinegar. Just had to share with you as I
LOVE Thieves Cleaner, and always look for more ways to use it. Veronica
2. Thieves- Dishwasher Detergent
“I tried in vain to get my narrow-necked glass water bottles clean. No brush was long enough to reach the bottom and even running them through the dishwasher did not clean them completely. So I put a drop of Thieves Household Cleaner in one with a little hot water and a teaspoon of clean sand (dry rice also works), shook it up like crazy for a minute, and the bottle sparkled like new. I love Thieves products!” - Zettelyss Amora
3. Thieves – Household Plant Food
“I have found that even my house plants can benefit from the natural benefits of Thieves Household Cleaner. Every time I water my plants, I add a cap or two of Thieves cleaner to the plant water. They seem to be healthier and actually bloom better when I do this. I have also been able to nurse a plant back from almost dying by treating it with Thieves cleaner. Within less than two weeks my dying plant had four new blooms on it. Thank you, Thieves cleaner!” - Jilline Dodge
4. Thieves – Glass Cleaner
“I dislike the chemicals in the shower sprays available in most stores. But it’s Thieves Household Cleaner to the rescue! I now dilute Thieves cleaner (according to the glass cleaner recommendation) in a spray bottle and confidently saturate my wet shower with the solution without holding my breath and racing out of the bathroom after spraying. It really works!”
