Kids in the Kitchen Link up Week 27
It’s a Lemonade Sale!
Summer time is such a fun time for us all. We get to be outside, play all day, no school, stay up late, sleep in, visit family, take vacations, …. so many options that the school year doesn’t allow for us to do.
An annual summer favorite for my children is a lemonade sale. The boys make the lemonade, from scratch, they make a sign, they do it all. They sit up on a hill in our neighborhood and wait for cars to drive by. The neighbors are so kind. They stop and buy a glass of cold, freshly made organic lemonade from the kids. I loved doing this as a kid and now I get to watch my boys do the same.
This past week was our last week of summer, so we made our lemonade, our sign, and the boys sat up on the hill to hand out fresh lemonade to cars passing by.
Fresh Homemade Organic Lemonade- 2 Quarts
Ingredients
4 cups water heated on the stove (boiling not necessary)
4 cups cold water
1 cup sucanat
1-2 organic lemons
Heat 4 cups water on the stove. You do not need to bring to a boil. Add sugar and stir to dissolve. (This is called simple sugar syrup.) Set aside. Using a citrus juicer, squeeze the juice out of the lemons. Pour the citrus juice into the pitcher. Add the simple sugar syrup and stir well. Fill pitcher with cold water. Taste for desired sweetness- adjust accordingly… need to be a little more tart, add some more lemon juice. Too tart, not sweet enough? Add in a little more sucanat. My boys love this part! They taste and taste until, voila, it’s perfect, they say!
Now, it’s your turn! Share with us- Carrie at Young Living Oil Lady and Kelli at AdventurzinChildrearing your family friendly recipe. What have you been making this week? How are you inspiring your kids to get in the kitchen? Use this time to bond with your children. Cooking is so much fun and many subjects can be discussed right in the kitchen while you are cooking!
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.(1 Corinth. 10:13)
