Vermont Maple Syrup Salmon

A few years ago my husband and I spent our anniversary together in Vermont. It was wonderful! It is so beautiful there-what an amazing state to visit.  At one of our restaurant outings, we had salmon.  It was unlike any other salmon I had. I asked the waiter how they prepared it and without giving away the recipe he shared how I could prepare it at home. The secret ingredient is maple syrup! Sounds odd, possibly, but it was delicious.

I am here to share with you how we make our salmon at home and maybe it will inspire you to make it as well.

Ingredients to make Vermont Maple Syrup Salmon

2 – 2 1/2 lbs Salmon (wild, or farm raised)

1/8 cup Organic Maple Syrup

1/8 cup Sucanat (or similar type of sugar- preferably NOT white sugar)

Simply pour the syrup on top of the salmon and sprinkle the sucanat on top. Pre-heat the grill to high heat and then reduce to low heat. Place the salmon on tin foil. Cook on the grill with the lid open for 15-20 minutes or until done. The length of cooking will depend on the thickness of the cut of salmon.

Now, it’s your turn! Share with us- Carrie at Young Living Oil Lady and Kelli at AdventurzinChildrearing your family friendly recipe. What have you been making this week? How are you inspiring your kids to get in the kitchen? Use this time to bond with your children. Cooking is so much fun and many subjects can be discussed right in the kitchen while you are cooking!

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.(1 Corinth. 10:13)

Hi Carrie!

Your Vermont Maple Syrup Salmon looks divine! I posted a a similar recipe back in December for Maple Glazed Salmon where I use cinnamon and cloves to give it a kick of “spicy-ness”. It’s festive for Christmas but I thought it would be fun to share it here – after all it’s time to celebrate Christmas in July right? :)

I’m excited to try your recipe with just the maple syrup and sucanat! Have a lovely rest of your week!

Thanks for hosting! When I write about including kids in the cooking process, I hear a number of moms express reservations about the mess. I love having a place to point them to which encourages them.

Barb, it is wonderful that you are teaching kids to cook in the kitchen. If you can’t make a mess, you don’t belong in the kitchen, haha! Thank you for stopping by. Blessings!
