Which is Better? Essential Oils or Herbs

Which is better?  Essential Oils or Herbs?

Essential oils are the “life blood” of the plant,  and can be found in the plant’s flower, stem, leaves, bark or fruit.   Young Living essential oils are therapeutic grade essential oils-(‘therapeutic grade’ means that an essential oil has been carefully distilled to retain the maximum amount of constituents that have therapeutic/healing effects).  Essential oils are highly concentrated and Young Living essential oils contain virtually all of the plants healing nutrients and oxygenating molecules.
Because essential oils are so highly concentrated, they are 50 to 70 times more therapeutically potent than the herbs or plants they are derived from!  Dried herbs, lose up to 90% of their healing nutrients and oxygen molecules, whereas essential oils do not.

An example of how essential oils compare to herbs: There are approximately 60 drops of essential oil per teaspoon, while this may not seem like much – it is important to remember this example – just “one” drop of peppermint oil equals about 28 cups of peppermint tea!

It takes 5,000 pounds of rose petals to distill one pound of rose oil, making it one of the most expensive and precious essential oils we have. Have you ever dried out flowers before, like a rose?  Did it change the fragrance of the flower? Sure! That’s because the essential oil of a flower, like the rose, is very delicate and vaporizes easily into the air. Essential oils are “volatile” oils, meaning all of the therapeutic properties are in the essential oil of the plant and it dissipates quickly and easily. That is how you can be near a bottle of Young Living essential oil and the top is on and you can still smell the oil.  The fragrance of PURE therapeutic grade essential oils is indescribable.  In another article I will share on the fragrance and smell of essential oils!

Once a fresh plant is dried, very little of the essential oil is still left. It’s the same with herbs. Once an herb is dried, it only contains 3 – 5% of its essential oil, and it’s the ESSENTIAL OIL that gets us well!

In the process of drying the herb, many molecules found in the essential oil of the plant are lost altogether because they are volatile oils and evaporate.  Thus, this is why essential oils are better than fresh or dried herbs.  Does that mean we don’t use or need herbs?  NO, absolutely not!  I am just showing the potency of the essential oil compared to the herbs.  Both are from the same derivative of the plant, but in the process of drying out the herbs, the manufacturers are “dehydrating” the plant, thus taking out the “essential oil” of the plant and losing the therapeutic benefits.

The Frequency of Essential Oils and Herbs

Frequency is a measurable rate of electrical energy that is constant between any 2 points.  Everything has an electrical frequency. Essential Oils have energy. Rose’s energy has been measured at 320 MHz (the highest). Lavender is 118 MHz and peppermint is 78 MHz.

Essential Oils range in frequency from 52-320 MHz.

Dry Herbs range in frequency from 12-22 MHz.

Fresh Herbs range in frequency from 20-27 MHz.

The human body has been measured at 62 – 68 MHz (a healthy human body) while if you have a cold your energy can drop to 58 MHz.

Now here’s something of interest: Negative thoughts lower the frequency of Essential Oils by 12 MHz while positive thoughts raised their frequencies 10 MHz. Prayer raises frequency levels by 15 MHz. So, you can see why anointing took place with prayer in Biblical times.

Frequency test and How Essential Oils Work

Now for something you can actually try on yourself or others. (if you have a Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil handy, like Young Living). Holding a cup of coffee lowers your body’s frequency 8 MHz; drinking that cup lowers your body’s frequency by 14 MHz. It can take three days to recover and bring the body’s frequency back up to 62 – 68 MHz. If you drink coffee daily, your body’s frequency will constantly be in the lower ranges (the range of illnesses), unless you do something to raise these levels. Prayer can do it. But, the simplest and easiest way to get your energy levels back into the Healthy Range is by smelling/inhaling a Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil.  In a study of this performed, the individual who inhaled an essential oil after holding his cup of coffee was able to return his frequency level back to his initial 66MHz within 21 seconds, whereas the individual who held his cup of coffee and did not smell an essential oil, took 3 days for his frequency to return to the initial 66 MHz.

Whenever given the choice, I will choose essential oils over herbs!  I love and use them both in my cooking and medicinally, however, I see the greater health benefit of essential oils. When you cook with Young Living essential oils, you receive all the great taste of traditional herbs and spices, but without any unnecessary preservatives. So don’t miss this chance to spice up your favorite meals with a dash of Young Living Therapeutic Grade essential oils!

That’s my opinion.  Would love to know your thoughts.  Did this article help you?

Hi Carrie,
Can you help me understand the science behind our body frequency and how things like coffee affect it? I would like more background on how we arrived at these conclusions. I’m not a skeptic by nature, and I am a true believer in our amazing Young Living oils. I would just like to be able to hold a semi-intelligent conversation with skeptics who will certainly ask for more details.
Thank you so much!
Peace,
Claire

Hi Carrie,

I don’t think you covered this, but when you cook with an essential oil, does the cooking process cause the oil to lose some of it’s healing properties? I’ve always wondered about this! Thanks so much!!!!

Hello Deb, yes it will a tad, but I put the oils in right before I plan to serve the meal… so, it has time to coat through the dish, but not stay and cook in the meal. Hope that helps! Blessings

Very informative. Answers a lot of my questions and I love how you compare the energy levels, it really drives the point home. I love YL oils too
