Swollen Ankle Remedy

swollen ankle young living pan away and wintergreen essential oils

Have you ever sprained your ankle? If not, let me tell you, it HURTS! If you have, you know the pain I am talking about. Your ankle immediately swells, even from the smallest twist or wrong move of your foot being planted. My husband sprained his ankle over the summer, the night before 4th of July, actually. We had plans to go to Charleston, S.C. and then on up to the mountains in N.C. to be with family for the holiday. My husband was playing soccer with my son and his teammates. He somehow twisted it while running after the ball. He came home and told me I needed to doctor it. I had no idea how bad it was… until I saw it! OH MY! SWOLLEN!!!

I am typically the one that is very positive and believing for immediate healing and when I saw that ankle, I thought to myself ‘ugh oh’…how are we going to go on vacation tomorrow with his ankle like that? How is he going to walk around Charleston and sight see?” Having a Physical Therapy degree, my mind went to all the patients I treated and how long an ankle injury like that lasts. I knew the drill… RICE… REST, ICE, COMPRESS, ELEVATE. Well… when you go on vacation and you are going to be in a ‘walking sight seeing city’ and have plans to hike in the mountains, go tubing and other fun stuff, RICE is NOT a part of that agenda.

I looked at my husband and said, “Should we call your parents and cancel the trip?” He looked at me and said, “No, I will be fine. It will be ok, I’ll manage.”  I immediately then replied, “Ok hun, well let’s get to praying, icing and rubbing the oils on you!” And we did just that.

Swollen Ankle Remedy

I went and grabbed my Young Living essential oils. I applied Pan Away and Wintergreen essential oil to his ankle and prayed for the swelling to go down. I only did the oils once as it was almost 9pm when he got home. The following morning we were leaving for Charleston. I asked him again if he was going to be ok walking around on it and he said he would manage. I applied another drop of Pan Away and Wintergreen on his ankle. We packed up the car and drove to S.C. When we arrived in S.C, I was able to see my husband’s ankle… SWOLLEN!! I re applied Wintergreen and this time I also applied Deep Relief essential oil. We applied these oils 2 more times this day. He was shocked, despite how swollen it was, that there was NO pain! He was able to walk, without hindrance, despite the amount of swelling.

The next morning he woke up, after having walked on it all day, on the 4th of July, and the swelling was almost all gone! We were shocked! We applied 2 drops of Wintergreen upon awakening. We applied Wintergreen and altered between Pan Away and Deep Relief  a few more times this day. We did this for the next 2 days. We were so busy that we only applied the oils morning, mid afternoon and upon going to bed. We traveled home all day Sunday. He never complained once. We both were astonished at what the essential oils had done. In four-five days, his ankle was healed! :)

I took one of the photos of my husband’s swollen ankle and asked a personal trainer how long recovery would take and she said, “Oh, minimum 6 weeks, but more likely 8.”  I said, “How about 4 days” and she laughed at me and said, “4 days?!!! No, 6 weeks!”  I told her my husbands ankle was fine in 4 days of applying the oils. She was stunned!
